Barcode boutique offers designer pop-ups, donations to good causes and a showcase for local artists.

Silicon Valley’s female tech execs are connoisseurs of Presidio Heights’ chic apparel and home design boutiques. Now there’s another reason to drive up to San Francisco: Danielle Bourhis’ The Bar Code. The boutique, which opened this fall, serves triple duty: It’s a gallery for fine art, custom furniture and vintage clothing; a pop-up space for trunk shows by luxury brands (apparel from $500 to $10,00 and up) such as Paris designer Andrew Gn, matchesfashion.com and Catherine Prevost; and a spot for chic streetwear ($100 to $1,000) by designers including JET John Eshaya and Knot Sisters. And for every purchase, The Bar Code donates 5 percent of sales to causes (currently Planned Parenthood Northern California) that Bourhis believes need shoppers’ attention and funding. The gallery allows Bourhis to offer exposure to artists in need as well, such as paintings by Montecito’s Bobbi Bennett, who lost her gallery in last year’s mudslides. “The Bar Code is an antidote to online shopping, providing our clients a see-feel-touch experience in a creative setting,” explains Bourhis. “Both our fashions and charities will rotate.
