The Signature Chefs Auction cooked up support for the
March of Dimes.
THE PARTY It was time for DC’s charitable gastrophiles to show their good taste at March of Dimes Greater Washington’s 22nd annual Signature Chefs Auction. Held at the Marriott Marquis, the culinary affair dished out cuisine from 23 of the region’s finest culinarians, all benefiting the nonprofit’s efforts to support the health of mothers and babies. THE PEOPLE Emcee Leon Harris, an NBC4 anchor, and upward of 400 others nibbled their way through stations from the likes of honorary chef Michael Friedman of The Red Hen and All-Purpose Pizzeria. (And Brian Nixon and Dara Renee Jimenez poured out their talents as cocktail and winery chairs, respectively.) Joining them in their respective “kitchens”: Victor Albisu of Poca Madre, Caitlin Dysart of Centrolina and others. BEST IN SHOW Tiered & Petite kept the treats coming with a dessert presentation during the live auction. And Todd and Jennifer Casey, the event ambassadors, shared their story of how research funded by the nonprofit helped their little lady, Isabelle. Their story drove home the nonprofit’s mission before the fete ended with a satisfying $326,000. -Gabriela Alarcón
